What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or persistent tooth pain, swelling, bleeding that won't stop, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost crown or filling, and signs of infection (pus, fever, facial swelling) all qualify. If you're unsure, call (734) 994-6966 — our team can help you decide if you need to come in right away.
Can I get a same-day emergency appointment?
Yes — we hold time in our daily schedule specifically for emergencies. Call (734) 994-6966 as early as you can and we'll do everything possible to see you the same day. Most emergencies are seen within hours.
What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out?
Time matters — call us immediately. If possible, pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it with water, and place it back in the socket or in a cup of milk. Get to our office within 30–60 minutes for the best chance to save it.
How do I manage pain before I get to the office?
Rinse with warm salt water, take an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed, and apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for swelling. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum — it can burn tissue. Call us and we'll guide you through next steps.
Can I be seen if I'm not already a patient?
Absolutely. We welcome new emergency patients and existing patients alike. Just call (734) 994-6966 and let us know it's an emergency — we'll get you in as fast as possible, regardless of whether you've been here before.
Do you accept insurance for emergency visits?
Yes — we accept most major PPO dental plans including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Guardian, Humana, BlueCross BlueShield, and more. We also offer flexible financing through CareCredit so cost never delays urgent care.
Is a dental abscess really serious?
Yes — dental abscesses are infections that can spread quickly and become dangerous if left untreated. Signs include persistent throbbing pain, swelling, bad taste, fever, or facial swelling. Call us right away if you suspect an abscess.
