Durable & Aesthetic Tooth Restoration
A preventive program involves collaboration between the patient, dentist, and dental staff to protect natural teeth and supporting structures by preventing dental diseases and conditions.
Prevention begins at home with proper oral hygiene and a balanced diet, and continues in the dental office through the efforts of your dentist and hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.
Reasons for composite fillings
- Chipped teeth.
- Closing space between two teeth.
- Cracked or broken teeth.
- Decayed teeth.
- Worn teeth.
How are composite fillings placed?
Composite fillings are typically completed in a single appointment. After numbing the tooth, your dentist will remove any decay and clean the area thoroughly. The space will be prepared before placing the new filling. If the decay was close to the nerve, a special medication will be applied for added protection. The composite filling will then be carefully placed, shaped, and polished to restore your tooth’s original shape and function.
It's normal to experience some sensitivity to hot and cold after the placement of composite fillings, but this should diminish as your tooth adjusts.
You will receive care instructions after your treatment. Maintaining good oral hygiene, following proper eating habits, and attending regular dental visits will help extend the life of your new fillings.
